Equinox Mine Production Blog
Just one item out of a zillion, but as this was still a big, obvious, uncompleted item for Sickbay I wanted to make some progress on it.
It’s fun seeing which parts of an integrated display like this are live in the studio (i.e. TV sets) and which are just plastic overlays. In this case the two center TVs are used to display whatever the plot requires, while the upper and lower areas are static “window dressing.” These areas are also, purely coincidentally, too high or low to easily show the actors interacting with them. They sure look neat with the CMO sitting in front of them though!
It’s also kind of interesting that the two center TVs are proportioned differently than the top two fake-TV overlays (which I’ve reproduced faithfully here) — the real TVs are a little wider. Was that intentional, or did they just inadvertently change the proportions somewhere along the line? And does anyone not making an overly-detailed Star Trek set reproduction care?
